A seven-year-old, one finger and a lazy Susan keep an uncle from his bao
Min Story Lab's 30-second animated comedy blends anime framing with a feature-film look and lets the storytelling carry it. The maker names Seedance 2.5 on ImagineArt, a platform listed in the maker's creator programs.
I was invested from the first turn of the lazy Susan. Min Story Lab's 30-second short opens on a doctor's order for more vegetables and an uncle at a Chinese restaurant who only wants one bao.
Every time the uncle reaches for the bun, a 7-year-old nephew turns the glass lazy Susan with one finger and stops a plate of greens in front of the uncle instead. The nephew has the uncle's best interests at heart, and seems to use hidden powers to make sure the uncle eats healthily.
It is a fun little short with meaning, with humor and a bit of slapstick throughout, layered with typical anime framing and cuts. The nephew almost looks like a character out of a modern animated feature, and that blend of the two looks really struck me.
Nothing lets it down for me. The storytelling carries the entire short, and I stayed until the end for the payoff.
Min Story Lab says it was created with Seedance 2.5 on ImagineArt, and posted it as the latest episode of an ongoing series.
