AFRO TV puts AI short films on national TV: Cue Film Fest opens submissions for a Christmas '26 edition
AFRO TV's free Cue Film Fest airs AI Christmas shorts live on Comcast Xfinity on Dec 12, but 45% of the shortlist score is audience ratings, likes and views, and no prize amounts have been published.
Getting an AI Christmas short onto cable this December now depends partly on your audience. AFRO TV's new Cue Film Fest ranks every entry 50% on its selection committee, 25% on public ratings, 20% on likes and 5% on views, so 45% of the shortlist score comes from people watching the public gallery.
Entry to Cue Christmas '26 is free until Friday, Nov 20. The 20-work selection is named Dec 1, and the awards air live on Comcast Xfinity and NOW TV on Saturday, Dec 12 at 7pm Eastern.
Write to the terms, not the release. Monday's release asked for 90 second to 3 minute shorts and ten finalists, while the festival's own terms say 2 to 6 minutes, a second category for AI music videos, and 20 works. Four cash awards are listed with no amounts published, and the 12 million household figure is described by the festival itself as potential reach, not viewers.
In practice, enter early and share your gallery link, since an October entry has six more weeks to collect ratings. Read the license first: entering grants AFRO TV a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license for two years from the submission date.
