Black Forest Labs opens FLUX 3 Image: 10 references, bounding-box layout, pixel-locked multi-turn edits, native 4K
FLUX 3 Image adds 10 references, bounding-box layout and edits that Black Forest Labs says change no other pixel, but the only proof of that lock so far is BFL's own demo, and the half-price offer ends 8 October.
Black Forest Labs opened FLUX 3 Image on 1 October, ten weeks after it first showed the FLUX 3 family in July, and it is live on BFL's own platform as well as Krea, OpenRouter and Runware. The pitch is control: multi-turn edits that BFL says leave every other pixel untouched, bounding boxes (rectangles you draw to tell the model where each element goes) and up to 10 reference images in one prompt.
That pixel lock is the feature anyone building keyframes wants, because it would let you change one prop per shot while the character stays exactly the same. So far the evidence is BFL's own demo on slide 2, which chains 25 garment edits on a single photo, and the early comparisons we have seen on X test camera angles and drawing style rather than drift between edits.
Price is the other thing to watch. Until 8 October a 1K image costs $0.024 through BFL, half the list price, and a 4K image lists at $0.607 once the discount ends. Open weights (model files you can download and run yourself) are promised in the coming weeks, and for now companies license commercial weights through BFL's sales team.
In practice, build your character sheet this week while it is half price, then run ten chained edits on one frame and compare them side by side before you plan a shot list around the lock.
