Google makes 1080p AI video free for every Google account via Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash in Vids
Google now lets any Google account generate AI video with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash in Vids at no cost, but it has not published the free allowance and Decrypt's own test only produced 720p.
Google has made 1080p AI video free inside Google Vids. Since 23 September, anyone with a personal or Workspace Google account can generate clips with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash at vids.new, on desktop, without a paid AI plan. The controls are the useful part: you can set a clip's exact duration so it lands on a voiceover, extend a scene while holding its lighting and characters, and upscale older AI clips to 1080p. Two catches sit beside the headline. Google has not said how big the free allowance is, only that paid Google AI plans and Workspace Business tiers get larger generation pools, and when Decrypt tested it, it could only produce 720p clips. Every clip also carries SynthID, Google's invisible watermark (a signal embedded in the frames, which means detection tools can read it even when viewers cannot see it), so the AI origin of the footage travels with the file into whatever edit it ends up in. In practice, this is a free previs pad for AI creators: block out a scene, lock its timing to your script, and keep paid tools for the footage a client will actually see. Paid video tools are now priced against free, and the squeeze should land first on services that resell access to mid-tier models.
