Radar Week 42: five stories for AI filmmakers, 9 to 16 Oct 2026
The five stories from Week 42 of the Radar, from Nicolas Cage refusing an AI waiver to Danny Boyle's AI Thatcher. The Cage waiver is unpublished and the Prime Video deal rests on one company statement.
Five stories from this week in generative film, in running order.
01 Legal and policy: Nicolas Cage said at New York Comic Con on October 10 that he refused to sign an AI waiver on Spider-Noir, and nobody has published the waiver itself. 02 Studio move: Prime Video took global rights to Çukur: Vartolu, an AI-made spin-off of the Turkish hit The Pit, and the studio says actors performed every scene under the AI layer. 03 Big story: Danny Boyle said he put an AI likeness of Margaret Thatcher over an impersonator in Ink without asking her estate, and neither the tool nor the performer has been named. 04 Tool release: Companies can now license Runway's Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0 and run them privately on Baseten, stock or trained on their own footage, though no buyer or price has been named. 05 Creator spotlight: Umesh made a 15-second park film from a Midjourney v8.2 still with FLUX 3 and held one warm, grainy grade across all nine shots.
