Why the desk picked it
This one is hard to call. Dheepan Ratnam made a 30-second classical Indian dance solo in Seedance 2.5, built as a single continuous take with no cutaways, and with the visuals and an original synchronized soundtrack generated together.
It may be the first piece of generative footage where we could not tell whether we were watching AI or human direction. Movement, lighting and sync hold up from start to finish, through the mudras, the jewelry and the close zoom-ins on the face. A stark black backdrop leaves little room for error. The real test is still a full lineup of dancers rather than one, but as a solo it is captivating to watch.
For AI creators, that is the bar to plan around now.
