Why the desk picked it
Tension comes cheap in this one. "Every Day" is a 19-second short from filmmaker Kim Jun (@junjun_kimkim), posted to X with a single line and a few hashtags.
It is suspenseful from the first frame, packed with artistic framing and deliberate shot choices. The sound design does a lot of the work: the unsettling whir of a fan and the quick turn of pages in a book sit right on the picture. The colors and the design of the scene and its character are striking throughout, and a closing shot with an obscured face leaves you wanting to know who this person is.
For AI creators, it is a reminder that framing, sound and restraint build suspense faster than spectacle does.
